Matt Thomas

Matt Thomas is the Chief of Conservation for the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with a focus on aquatic ecosystems from The Ohio State University. He managed the operations and SCUBA diving safety program for OSU’s biological field station, F. T. Stone Laboratory on Gibraltar Island, Lake Erie 2000-2018.

As Conservation Chief for MWCD, Thomas directs the agricultural and natural area land use, sustainability, and water quality programs within the organization’s 18 county jurisdiction. He brings with him over 25 years of experience working across the state on a diverse array of environmental issues from the Great Lakes to the Ohio River. He and his family enjoy rural Carroll County growing apples and chestnuts for specialized culinary markets.
